History

1954:

The year when it all starts; inventor Ib Obel Pedersen founds the company “Ib Obel Pedersen A/S" (Obel-P), a company with focus on speciality equipment for the wood- and metal industry.1969:

Ib Obel Pedersen A/S is contacted by engine manufacturer MAN B&W (then B&W), who seeks a solution to the pressure testing of the fuel-injectors, and a replacement for the hand driven pumps which are used in connection with the engines hydraulic maintenance tools. Until 2000 the marine-products were only a “side-product” for Ib Obel Petersen, and they were only advertised through MAN B&W.

2000:

Ib Obel Pedersen A/S is sold to Asbjørn Thomsen, who actively works to improve the organization and productivity of the whole company.

2001:

Additionally two companies are purchased and Obel-P Group is founded, a separate business strategy is established for the company’s marine products. After the buy up a valuable knowledge about the maritime market is developed and the products are more actively marketed.

2004:

The marine division is separated from Ib Obel Pedersen A/S to the independent company IOP Marine A/S. The increased focus is clearly reflected in both the company’s marketing activities and sales figures. From 2003 to 2005 IOP Marine A/S has doubled their market share for delivery to new engines, and has at the same time increased replacement sales and after-sales services with the help of their agent- and service program.

2005:

Cooperation with Wärtsilä is initated in order to develop new test equipment for their 2- and 4-stroke fuel injectors. The VPU 500 for 2-stroke engines was launched in 2006, the 4-stroke "VPU 900, Wärtsilä Edition" was launched in 2006 and made standard for the W20 engine in the spring of 2008.

2006:

Cooperation with Rolls Royce is initated in order to develop new test equipment for their 4-stroke fuel injectors. As of August 2007, the IOP equipment has been standard for all new Rolls Royce "Bergen" engine. Same year 5x faster HPU's for large MAN Diesel and Wärtsilä engines are introduced.

2007:

First prototype for testing of electronic injectors (incl. Common Rail) in the maritime world is unweiled. This test bench can be customised for different engine type injectors.

2008:

Strategic co-operation with Chris-Marine AB is initiated.

2009:

Company acquired by Chris-Marine and is now an independent company in the Chris-Marine Group.
